In reference to law, “voluntary” is used to indicate willfulness or intention . For example:
- “ Voluntary waste ” is the willful act of damaging a property or depleting natural resources available on the property.
- “ Voluntary manslaughter ” is the intentional killing of another person while in the heat of passion or with adequate provocation.
- “ Voluntary bankruptcy ” is bankruptcy that is filed for by the debtor , rather than by the creditor .
